Colour, Colour, Which Colour do you choose?

Have you ever felt energized the minute you step into a room filled with bright colours, or ever wonder why you feel safe and relaxed when you see a particular colour? The answer is colour psychology.
Colour has the capacity to make or break a space. It can enhance attention, correlate components, amplify aesthetics and convey meaning. Colour can make a small nook of a room appear wider or make a large open space feel intimate.

Colour psychology is the study of how colours affect human behaviour. The colour of our room affects our mood, thoughts and emotional well-being subconsciously.
So, before you revamp your home, understand the psychology of different colours and make an informed decision on what colour to paint your walls

Red

Red is a very stimulating and energizing colour. It has been shown to increase alertness, appetite and conversation. All these characteristics make it a good colour to use in living rooms, dining room and kitchen. Red has been known to increase heart palpitations and hence is not a good colour to go for in bedrooms.

Orange

It is the most controversial colour on the colour wheel. While orange is considered to be fun, flamboyant and energizing for many people, some may find it disturbing and often in their list of least liked colours. So, picking orange is up to personal preference. Orange is best used in gyms and play rooms due to its tendency to increase energy, while it is not recommended in bedrooms for the same reasons as red

Now that you’ve had a crash course in colour psychology, next time you go to select the colour of your rooms, try choosing your mood you want there. After all, home is where the heart is!
